At The Treasure Mart
One person's trash is another person's treasure, but .........
the experienced office
staff have a pretty good idea of what will sell here and
for how much. For
consignment at The Treasure Mart, the last word on the sale
price and whether we will accept it
to sell remains the discretion of the
staff.
We are cutting down on the amount of "miscellaneous" merchandise
that we will accept. Items
priced under $3 are considered miscellaneous. The
store now takes 50% of the sale price of these
items that do not appear itemized
on your inventory list. These items take up valuable space in the
store. And
while The Treasure Mart has been and will always be a treasure hunt, we would
like to
minimize the clutter of these items that do not make much money for
either the members or the store.
We do not consign the odd coffee mug
or glass, unless there is some value to
a collector
- at the discretion of office staff.
We can pick up your items from in and around Ann Arbor. Please call ahead to
make arrangements. See FAQs for the costs for
pick-ups/deliveries.

Terms of Consignment
Consignment is for members only. You will be asked to pay a membership fee
of $15,
good for one year, on the day you bring in your first items to sell at
The Treasure Mart. See
Member Policies.
When you bring items in to sell, you agree to take 65% of the sales price of
ticketed items. When The
Treasure Mart picks up your items to be sold, we will
take 40% of the sale, in addition to the $30 surcharge (and
possible mileage) for the pickup. Each month that your ticketed item does not sell it
will go down in sales price by 10%.
After 3 markdowns ( 4 months) if an item has not sold, you will receive
50% of the final
sale. All small appliances that have not sold in the first 30 days will be
disposed of. All items not sold after 6 months will be recycled.
You always have the right to remove the item from the store if it is not
selling. Please find the item in the
store and bring it - or if furniture bring
the ticket - into the office where you can sign out your item.
All goods are held at the owner's risk for loss or damage due to breakage,
shoplifting, lost parts, or for
any other reason. The Treasure Mart cannot
guarantee sale of items and may dispose of any items, at
owners expense, found
to be damaged, in unsatisfactory condition or unsaleable without notice or
payment to owner. The owner acknowledges that he will be bound by The Treasure
Mart terms and
policies.
Along with reviewing the Store Items section, the
following guide should help
you determine what
to bring in to sell at The Treasure Mart. Also, see Check-in
Procedure and membership
policies.
Please call ahead to schedule a day to bring your items in, (734)
662-9887.You must
always call ahead if you
are bringing furniture. Please see the following sections - Never
Bring and Conditionally before you call.
Never bring to The Treasure Mart
Please do not bring anything with liquid inside. This includes lamp oil,
perfume, lighter fluid,
liqueur.
We will not
sell used personal hygiene items.
Unless they are collectible.
We'll take
the antique doctor's bag, but please leave the medical equipment at home.
We sell TV's but we do not sell computer equipment
or
typewriters.
We don't sell Sports or exercise equipment if this is actually in
a condition that someone would still use. If you have an autographed
football, we'll take it.
Conditionally we will accept these items.
There are several items that due to space constraints, etc. we may not accept
at any given
time. For example, lamps, pictures, and rugs are often a problem.
Please call ahead (734) 662-9887. We
take members and new consignors by appointment only.
Beds
- We do
take mattresses and box springs - in good condition (no stains!) - when
we have the room.
Odd chairs that are not to be sold as part of a
table and chair set.
These just
don't sell well, so we are usually overstocked. Please call.
For couches, sofas, davenports or whatever you call these please call ahead.
Sometimes we just don't have the room. They must be clean, in good condition and
of a style and
color that customers will be interested in purchasing.
End tables and coffee tables.
Especially in
the winter months, when we
can not overflow onto the driveway, space constraints
necessitate keeping consignment of these
to a minimum, so please call first before loading them into your van.
We are very
selective about the lamps we accept; and we don't always have
room in the
store for these. Please call and ask before you bring in lamps for consignment.
Pictures, paintings and frames are items that are very conditionally
accepted
for consignment.
We are usually overstocked with these.
Seasonal items will only be consigned within their season.
Christmas items are only accepted in November and December. If these items do
not sell, they are disposed of after Christmas. Call the
office, (734) 662-9887 for
more details on when seasonal items are accepted.
